The Hotel de Havelet in St Peter Port is the second Guernsey hotel to install an electric vehicle (EV) charging station for use by their guests.

Hoteliers increasingly recognise the need to install EV charging stations, as EV ownership increases across Europe and the world.

The EO charger that has been installed at Hotel de Havelet offers connection via the EO smartphone app to allow the car owner to manage their electricity charging needs.

Gennaro Festivo, General Manager at Hotel de Havelet,  said “we noticed increasing interest in electric vehicles and had received enquiries about charging points at the hotel.”

“As it is our aim to always exceed our customer’s expectations it was an easy decision to install an EV charging point to allow both hotel and dining guests to be able to conveniently top up their vehicle charge during their stay.”

“For us this is another step in reinforcing our green credentials and our commitment to sustainability,” Mr Festivo said.

The charging point was supplied by local company Green Acorn Ltd and installed by AC Electrical.

Keith Hounsell from Green Acorn said “for islands and remote locations, the EO Charger is a hassle free, fit-and-forget charging system.”

“With increasing numbers of EV users on the island, and with visitors arriving in electric vehicles, they will no longer suffer ‘range anxiety’.

The EO smart charge app system is fantastic, offering a single access method, rather than the multiple cards and platforms found in the UK and Europe.

For islanders visiting the mainland this means they can use all EO chargers, and for visitors to Guernsey they have a dedicated smart network so there should be no concerns about how they will charge during their trip.

Charlie Jardine, CEO and Founder at EO Charging explained their future plans for EV charging locally.

“We are working closely with Green Acorn in the Channel Islands to build an open integrated network.”

We have a number of installations to follow.  EO Charging is very pleased Hotel de Havelet started the initiative, and we’re proud to support them.”
